Little people help too…!
by Marisa Rafal

On April 14th, 2007, social activist Karen Miller organized a strollathon
(an awareness walk with strollers so little kids can go too) to raise
awareness of climate change throughout the Boston area. She most
definitely did do that, but getting it there was much harder than I will
make it seem since there were so  any people involved as in

participants, volunteers, police traffic guards, committee members, and
sponsors. Since the majority of kids were under two they might not
remember the awareness walk themselves but with pictures and stories
they’ll have a hard time forgetting it.
In order to get the word around she sent email out to all the moms’
groups and environmental groups in the neighborhood. She also had 4
different sponsors: “Magic Beans”, Whole Foods, My Gym, and “Music
Together”. She says that it was very helpful to have them as sponsors
because they sent email out to everyone on their mailing lists.
In the end it turned out that she had over
  200 PARTICIPANTS!
Though that is very impressive she still would have
preferred more, but the weather was slightly cold so it might have
deterred the number of people who would have turned up otherwise.
Luckily she is planning to make it an annual event.
