| Call for submissions—Poetry for Haiti A special committee of the editors of Happeningnow!everywhere magazine announces planned publication of a special issue of poetry for Haiti. contact: happeningmagazine@yahoo.com We welcome the submission of poetry in any form by writers under 20 years of age for this special edition. This volume will be sold to raise funds to contribute to the work of aiding and rebuilding Haiti. Production costs and labor will be donated by Happeningnow! everywhere so that all proceeds will go to the effort to help Haiti. The DEADLINE for submissions is extended to March 7, 2010. We hope to publish the issue in March, 2010. Please submit your work by going to www.happeningnoweverywhere.com. There is a submission form on the home page. Please be absolutely sure that your work is saved on your own or school computer before you copy and send it. Or, you may email your work to happeningmagazine@yahoo.com. We will report on whether or not the work has been accepted for publication on March 1, 2010, and if you do not hear a response by then you should contact us at that time. The work should be thoughtful and well crafted. It does not have to be about the earthquake or necessarily be specifically about Haiti, but it should be related somehow to what the country of Haiti and the Haitian people, or the recent tragedies, represent, and/or your response to it. On the other hand, work that celebrates or reflects on Haitian culture or history is also welcome. Although the emphasis of the issue will be poetry, if you express yourself better or feel more comfortable with prose, please submit your short essay or comment piece and we will consider it as well. |
